About Emma L.M. Sweeney

Emma L.M. Sweeney is a session singer, songwriter, and vocal coach with thirty years of professional experience across recording, live performance, and the music industry.
Emma’s primary professional identity is as a vocalist. She has worked as a session singer for labels including Universal Music Group, Defected Records, Glitterbox, Rekids, and many others, and has performed and recorded across most commercial genres.
Her songwriting is published through BMI, and sheet music arrangements via Hal Leonard’s ArrangeMe platform and Sheet Music Direct. Emma is a member of the Musicians’ Union.
This depth of working experience — not just teaching experience — is what makes her coaching distinct. Emma teaches from the inside of a professional vocal career, not from the outside looking in.
She has been teaching singing and other instruments for thirty years, working one-to-one with students, leading workshops and choirs, and coaching singers during studio sessions.
Her teaching approach is rooted in contemporary vocal technique with a specialist focus on mix — the technique that underpins most of today’s commercial, pop, soul, and musical theatre singing.
Classically trained across multiple instruments for over forty years, Emma brings genuine musical breadth to every session. She understands the voice not just as an instrument in isolation, but in the context of harmony, arrangement, performance, and the recording environment. Her client work spans recording labels, individual artists, schools, and broadcasters including the BBC. A partial client list is below.
Emma holds an enhanced DBS certificate and is fully insured. Voice Coach World is her dedicated vocal coaching and resource platform, complementing her broader music teaching at Liverpool Music Lessons.
